About Us

“The great aim of education is not knowledge but action.”
Herbert Spencer

Learning can happen in different ways; it doesn’t just have to happen in the traditional setting of a classroom. Kerala is a state where local self-governance has been an exemplary model in problem-solving that even other states of India can draw learnings out of. A similar line of approach can be adapted to create an impact at the grass-root level through the local libraries reaching to the communities directly and harboring various skills. Through classroom-based school education, the essence of moving forward in the world through talents is forgotten to teach. Hence, the Indian youth is primarily focused on getting a formal education and landing a safe career, and in this process, their real talent is drained unnoticed.

A micro learning hub is a concept where within local communities there is a space created for experiential learning for children and youth allowing them to explore and experience new themes in life that helps them to achieve additional skills and mindset needed for this changing world. Since many of our libraries are focused on rural areas, each micro learning hub will be an aid to the development of youth and children near the hub, and thereby bringing sustainable development to the entire place. Through each micro learning hub, Kites Foundation envisages creating a world beyond books for each student, by conducting activities and workshops that lead them to a bright future with sustainable socio-cultural development. Micro learning hubs are apprehended to create a new realm for future generations to explore and improve the quality of education.

Our Vision

To accentuate the youth of India by assisting them to utilize their true potential.

Our Mission

The major vision of the Micro learning hub is to help students in identifying their true potential. Through each hub, we envisage creating a world beyond books for each student, by conducting activities and workshops that lead them to a bright future with sustainable socio-cultural development.

Our Plan

The micro learning hub is a gradually developing concept with a ground plan of 14 hubs in Kerala as a pilot stage with one learning hub in every district. As a part of postulating micro learning hubs, we have introduced a flagship initiative named “Book Farm” to identify and renovate libraries in the state and to gradually ameliorate these libraries into a micro learninghub where skills are harvested.

ACTION PLAN

Step I

Through crowdfunding and collection drives Kites volunteers will select, renovate and build new libraries throughout Kerala.

Step II

The proper requirement of each library will be analyzed, and necessary renovation activities are executed under each district committee where the libraries are located.

Step III

These libraries will be converted to a micro learning hub that envisions bringing change in the children by helping them identify their true potential. These libraries are then transformed into sustainable community development centers.
